Justin Clemens is Associate Professor in the School of Culture and Communication at The University of Melbourne. He works on issues at the intersection of biopolitics and psychoanalysis. His recent work examines the question of torture in democracy, the relationship between language and slavery, as well as key concepts such as state of exception and testimony. His books include Lacan Deleuze Badiou (Edinburgh UP 2014), cowritten with Jon Roffe and A.J. Bartlett; Psychoanalysis is an Antiphilosophy (Edinburgh UP 2013); and The Romanticism of Contemporary Theory (Ashgate 2003). He is the co-editor of such collections as What is Education? (Edinburgh UP 2017), Alain Badiou: Key Concepts (Acumen 2010), both with A.J. Bartlett; and, with Rowan Wilken, The Afterlives of Georges Perec (Edinburgh UP 2017).
