Sus investigaciones abordan la intersección entre biopolítica y psicoanálisis. Sus recientes libros examinan la retórica de la tortura en la democracia contemporánea, la relación entre lenguaje y esclavitud, así como también los conceptos claves de estado de excepción y testimonio. Sus libros incluyen Lacan Deleuze Badiou (Edinburgh UP 2014), escrito junto a Jon Roffe y A.J. Bartlett; Psychoanalysis is an Antiphilosophy (Edinburgh UP 2013); y The Romanticism of Contemporary Theory (Ashgate 2003). Es co-editor de varias colecciones como Alain Badiou: Key Concepts (Acumen 2010), con A.J. Bartlett; The Work of Giorgio Agamben (Edinburgh UP 2008), con Alex Murray y Nick Heron; y Jacques Lacan and the Other Side of Psychoanalysis (Duke UP 2006). Actualmente está co-editando un volúmen sobre biopolítica y educación contemporánea junto a Jessica Whyte y A.J. Bartlett.
