Profesor de Literatura Comparada en Lancaster University, UK. Sus intereses de investigación en teoría crítica y cultural con un focus particular sobre la literatura, biopolítica y la teología política. Es autor de cuatro libros monográficos incluyendo Negative Theology and Modern French Philosophy (2004) y Originary Technicity: The Theory of Technology from Marx to Derrida (2011). Además es editor de las colecciones The Politics to Come: Power, Modernity and the Messianic (2010) y The Messianic Now: Religion, Culture, Philosophy (2011). Actualmente está trabajando sobre un nuevo libro sobre teología política llamado Unbearable Life: Essays on Nihilopolitics.
